PROLOGUE

"what do you think you are doing"

I heard umair screaming, he was shouting at the nurse who was trying to take dev in emergency ward.

"sir patient is in critical condition, please let us handle this, he has already loss alot of blood at this rate he might go to coma" nurse pleaded infront of him

"don't you dare move, we are taking him with us" umair said angrily

"but sir you're friend needs treatment" another nurse said

"firstly he is not my friend and secondly we are here to make sure he doesn't survive" umair said with a smirk

Umair is one of my trusted men. He is good in his work. That man Dev is our enemy, he was supposed to be killed in that accident but he survived and people bought him here in this hospital. Well we tried to make it look like accident but we now has problem here.

From a shade, I am watching umair screaming at hospital staffs who are trying to stop him from taking dev away. I really hate when people try to interfere in my business.

AUTHOR'S POV

"this is getting out of hand, I will go in" karan said and was about to go in when they heard her voice

"what's going on here" Inaya said in her soft tone.

She was wearing her hospital uniform and it looked like she just came out of surgery. She moved towards Dev but got shocked to see his wounds.

"what are you doing here, take him to ER" she shouted at one of nurse

Nurse immediately started moving stretcher but umair held it from other side.

"I said don't you dare move" he glared at the nurse

"excuse me, can't you see patient is in critical condition he needs a surgery immediately" she looked at umair

"well doctor, listen carefully, he is our prisoner and he is not getting any surgery" he said looking straight in her eyes

"and who are you to decide that" she replied without any hesitation

Umair shocked at her rebel, he is not used to of anyone speaking to him like that.

"I am umair Ansaari, and he is a prisoner of maharaj. I guess this information is enough"

Everyone was shocked to hear this. Maharaj is richest in india and is known for his unforgiving nature, no one can go against him, no one dares to speak infront of him.

Nurse immediately stood back leaving the stretcher. Umair smirked looking at there faces. He understood now no one would dare to stop him.

His men came infront and started moving the stretcher, umair was about to leave when Inaya took a step and held the stretcher, getting attention of everyone.

"Just because his is your Maharaj's prisoner that doesn't mean he will die like this" she looked at them.

Umair turned around facing her. Everyone was shocked to hear her words, no one thought that anyone can dare to stand up infront of these royal guards.

"do you even know what you are saying, are you new here?" umair asked with shock and confusion

"yes I know very well, and no I am not new here. I am a doctor and I won't let anyone die here" Inaya said with her straight voice

Umair and other guards were shocked by her response and hospital staffs were scared. Only one person who was enjoying this was ahaan from far.

"seriously you are smiling," karan shook his head. "I will go inside'

Karan was about to step in but ahaan stoped him from moving forward and shook his head in no.

"nurse get the OR ready and ask doctor tia to come immediately" Inaya commanded to one of the nurse.

That nurse immediately followed her orders. Before they could do anything else, umair pulled out his gun and pointed at Inaya.

She didn't moved a bit and stood there with confidence.

"looks like you forgot doctor. You should save innocents not criminals, didn't you took an oath" he said while his gun was at Inaya's head

Hospital staffs were scared to death, no one moved from there place.

"I know my oath very well Mr. Umair. But I think you might have a misconception about it, let me make it clear." she said firmly
"I will not permit consideration of religion, nationality, race, party politics, or social standards to intervene between my duty and my patient. The health of my patient will be my first consideration"

She read the oath without stopping. Umair was stunned from her bravery. No one till now has ever shown this much confidence infront of royal guards.

"what the hell are you, you think you will get away with this" umair said with shocked eyes.

Before Inaya can reply dev condition started worsening. Inaya immediately looked at him. Pulled out her stethoscope and heard his breathing, she checked his vitals on the screen.

"give him 10mg epinephrine, and ask anesthesiologist Rita to come to OR fast" she said to nurse.

"and who will perform the surgery, is anyone here who can disobey maharaj's command" umair said looking at Inaya folding both his arms.

Inaya looked around and saw everyone looking at the ground. She understood their fear.

"I will" she said looking umair "I am not scared of performing my duties"

Before he could react, he got a call from karan who asked him to get back and leave dev in hospital. Umair left after giving pity look to Inaya. He thought Maharaj might punish her in his own way, little did he kill knew he was the one who has to face ahaan's anger.

Royal guards left leaving hospital staffs in confusion. Inaya commanded everyone and they got back to work.
